The Sock Hop 4-03-09

So The Girls: Deyjah, Mykalah, and Raven had a Father Daughter Dance they wanted to go to and was deemed the prime candidate to take them to it. So trying to make record breaking time in order to make it to pick them up on time through 45mph wind gusts. I arrived to 3 bubbly girls getting decked out in the best 50″s attire. me personally, I had forgotten the last time I did a 50’s themed event and couldn’t remember the stereotypical attire, until we walked in and saw all the white shirts, rolled up sleeves and boots, oh well i was close enough with a white collared short sleeve button up, and blue jeans , rocking a fresh pair of K-Swiss. I guess I was more on the preppy side of things for that era.

The funniest thing was probably the actual dancing. there were many dads and other father figures there with more than 1 girl, several with 2, but I was the only one with 3. To top that watching a gymnasium filled with 6-10yr old girls trying to do the Cha Cha Slide and twist was hilarious.

The girls had a good time as did I, with Mykalah coming in a close 3rd for the Hula Hoop contest, and I a 2nd in the Bubble Blowing contest. I must say I thought there would be more events but I guess when they’re that age you have to get their attention and get out before all control is lost.
