DZ and JJ

So what was going to be a driving filled day to head down to Sierra Vista turned into a mild mannered day of hanging out about town. After a overfilled breakfast at The Good Egg, the day quickly turned from JJ getting an oil change and following DZ around on Juggy; to Juggy nearly dying on the 202 and DZ learning the basics on JJ instead.

I always wondered what it would be like to teach a child how to ride a bike or throw a spiral, or how Art must have felt teaching Shorty how to ride her 1st dirt bike. Granted there was nervousness all around, it was mainly for 2 reasons:

    1) I didn’t want her to get hurt if the bike dropped
    2) I didn’t want her to drop the bike at all
    3) I have never taught someone how to ride. What comes naturally to me, seems jumbled and convoluted when I’m trying to explain it to someone else, who has zero experience with hand controlled vehicles (motorcycles, quads, jet ski’s, etc).

So after some preliminary pointers, like where the brakes and clutch were and most importantly not to touch the gas, she was on her way doing figure eights in front of Q’s house, ironically just like Molly had done some months before.

As the nervousness subsided to elation that she was doing quite well for never rising a bike before, she decided to step it up a lil and try some gas, which i could tell from a far as the bike stalled a few times coming back around towards me. At first I had a flashback to tryign to do the same thing with Elise, but realized that she was taking it seriously and not half ogling over some guy like Elise was, so I pulled her aside and gave lesson #2, how to ease on the throttle. Within minutes she was easily coasting down the road in a undeveloped section of Q and Molly’s housing development dubbed the “Proving Grounds”.
