I fought the law and the law won, but it doesn’t mean they were right!!!
A few months back I posted about the club trip to El Paso, and the sub sequent new and improved speeding tickets we received. Well this past Memorial Day, those involved hopped in Big D’s whip and rolled back down to Benson.
The intent, was to disprove the officers claim of speeding, but has the day worn through, it quickly changed to how annoyed we could make everyone with our mere presence and the obscure video provided by from the officers dash cam. In essence the whole thing started with one rider who I’ll leave nameless, kept scooting between other vehicles and then braking to allow more room for those behind him. Now in most cases this is done sparingly, as to not aggravate the other vehicles on the road, and he was informed several times previously not to continue in doing so, apparently that conversation went in one ear and out the other. Needless to say a concern motorist called the incident in and AZ’s finest DPS officer was sent to find the people responsible, apparently that meant us.
The officer in question, appeared behind me after several minutes of trying to get my attention while riding uphill at dusk with a new rider, After it became apparent he was there I of course pulled over, and to my bewilderment the officer kept going, while we stayed behind. So After some discussion the new rider stayed back a little bit longer as I rode further ahead and met with one other rider who was as well behind the officer. Long story short, I finally met up with the main group ten minutes later as they were being handed tickets and somehow was found to be with them and got one as well, bull shit I know right?
Fast forward several month later and here we are, sitting in a Justice Court/Health Dept/ Sheriff’s Office/Animal Control Center/Family Planning Center, yeah now I remembered why I moved away from a small town, which in this case was merely 20min away from the seats we were currently occupying. The appointment were at 9am and ironically enough there person who’s fault this was didn’t even show up, and instead of actually seeing us all together or even at our appointed times they decided to do each person individually as well as without the presence of the others in the room even. To top that they decided to call one of us proceed with the trial, then skip ahead several cases of people who came after us and then call another one of ours. Thus is where our own retaliation came into play, in the simple form of a antiquated VHS Tape and a crap load of radar facts that Tone downloaded, all of which was drunkenly presented over the 3 hour drive from phoenix that morning.
Suffice to say everyone was found guilty, expect Tone, who due to a misspelling of his name, had his case dismissed.
So what have we learned from this, if a cop passes you while trying to pull you over and he doesn’t stop and come back…….just leave!
