Well it looks like it’s going to be on for New Years this year. The roomies and I rolled to Landsharks last night for a few games of pool and drinks; as usual it was dead except for the owner, the bartender, and Lindsey I guess a friend of hers. Apparently there was no big plans for New Years as of yet, and proposed to Glen hosting a New years slash birthday party, as Mike and him, both share New Years eve as a birthday, with a live dj. And yeah I’ve always wondered why people refer to a dj as a “Live dj, as opposed to what a dead dj”, nonetheless it’s one of the buzz words people like to see on flyers so I used it. He was down for it, and told me there was no problem if I wanted to host a party there, he didn’t see any issues as to why we couldn’t. As we had expected, anything to get more people in would be music to his ears. So now Mike is supposed to be designing a flyer for it, to which I’m going to get a list of the proposed drink specials he’ll be offering to add to it, as well as help design portions of it, which also means I need to scan my design into digital format so I can add it as well.

Now granted New years is still 2 wks away, I foresee some logistics issues arising as, we’re all rolling out this Saturday to the Pajami Jami Jam at Woody’s, as well as finding time to get gifts for my mom and brother, as well as finding “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” on dvd for Kid, and finding Jami’s for the Jam this Saturday. Oh and not to mention cost for getting the flyers printed up, and either getting another Hip Hop dj to assist with night, as I don’t feel like being behind the deck the entire night, and prerecording 1-2 hip hop sets as fillers.

If all goes will this will be my 1st solo gig in some time, as Tom will be spinning at another party he set up some weeks ago, good thing they already have a sound system hooked up there, and all I’ll need is the deck and my records, as they appear to have a CD-DJ setup already in place.

Now once all of that is taken care of the only tough part will be getting people to show up. Steve’s crew will be unlikely to leave their northern watering hole at Woody’s, I have no idea what Kim and her crew are doing, but are likely to have something to do with Jones Fracture, I’m pretty sure I can get Aaron and Brianna and their roomies to come down, and of course Sean and some of his friends will roll. But that still leaves the need to get at least 450 more people to make it over 500. Okay so 500 is a bit unrealistic for the place, but it’s my neck milestone as far as party promotion goes, the last solo I did in which Pickle and I promoted under the guise of Black Irish productions yielded and total head count for the evening at 376, and that was for a house party.

So if I don’t post anything for awhile, it means I’m busy working on getting this thing to go off without a hitch, and at least making it worthwhile. Hopefully this will set a precedent to have Glenn allow me to play Saturdays, and I can start getting paid for it. Oh I guess I forgot to mention this is a freebie, unless Glen will let us charge a small fee at the door, but I don’t see that to be happening. Either way, it’ll be some good exposure and if things go well, lead to more gigs and like I said a weekly paying spot there.

  1. Work it like a bad man… You know I will be there… I will see how many people I can bring… but then again it may not be that many…
