MVD and stupid people

So I spent all last Saturday trudging around the valley trying to get JJ registered, but before i was able to perform such a simple little task, I had to get an emissions test. Now granted most people would be advised me the best time to go would be during the middle of the week when the fewest people logically would be there. To some degree this is true but at the same time it’s true for staffing as well.

So feeling fresh and bushy tailed I crawled out of bed and made my way down to the emissions center, this is of course after I checked to see what the current wait times were by going here first. So after I concluded that the wait was minimal, I headed over, now granted I’m on JJ now so traffic congestion is not a big issues as I can now simply weave around it.

I pull in and of course the same thing comes across my mind that happened the last time I was here, “Why is there no canopy or covering to provide the 6 lines of running vehicles?”. I mean really it’s not that hard to do , get a couple of $75 tents at Wal Mart and set em up. Or even better get some traps and string them up instead, but of course non of these events magically took place as I sat in a line surrounded by “cagers”, motors ablaze while trying to dump cold AC into their cabins, ironically non of them had their windows up, while i sat back sucking in fumes for almost 90min.

Then to top that off after I make my way thru the gauntlet, I decide “hey they have a vending machine here I’ll grab a quick bottle of water and head to the other location to get my tags done”

ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Wrong….Sometime between now and the end of August they decide to remove the vending machine that has resides in the 6×6 lobby for years.

So I reside to tough it out and hit the road.

I arrive at the MVD at Baseline and Greenfield to find a club, or at least a club line; along with 2 hot dog vendors and a charity dunk tank. My 1st impression was that there was some charity school fair going on in the parking, but alas i was wrong it was the line. The line to get into the building to get into another line to sit and wait with standing room only to pay a cost and get a sticker.

After the 1st 1hr many of those in line near me were just chatting about anything, mainly the fact that they had been in this same long line 2x that day already and were watching some of the same people from earlier come back. Then I noticed something, and my looking around peeked several of the other people curiosity, which led to a “what’s going on? something going on?”. My reply after several seconds of verifying my earshot audience was. “If all these people just brought themselves to the hell hole we’d be done by now. At first I got confused looks so I explained by pointing out the nearest example, a Husband who brought the wife, the teen and the 2 kids.

My question is….why?

Okay, let’s get the obvious excuses out of the way

1) Memories – Fuck the passing/failing your 1st driving test, take  picture at home showing the new id and i guarantee 20 yrs from now no one will give shit either.

2) Kids – “We had no one to watch the kids”, okay with the exception of a toddler can be left damn near anywhere on a Sat afternoon I’m sure they have other friends or grandparents or older sibling, but you dragging 4 extra heat generating coolant sucking being into a crapped space, makes my sat morning not fun, and they take up seats

3) The Insignificant Significant Other –  Again, Why? You knew you were gunna be stuck here all day, why must you drag him/her in with you. I’m sure they had way better things to do, hell they could have been at home making you lunch or fixing the car or damn near anything , but no you dragged them here and now they must suffer with you.

Bottom line, stop bring insignificant people to public places with you, the less you bring the less people there will be ,the less people their are the quicker everything moves..get it…good..now start doin it.
