Does it get any worse…perhaps!
So not only was I up until 6:30 am this morning, getting shit together, and still had to be at work at 8 am, I completely forgot to finish shaving before I left to go to work. I pretty much got everything I needed done, finished last night, except for a few minor things, mainly charging the camcorder batteries, but I’m currently doing that as I’m now sitting at work contemplating my apparent coexistence with Mr. Murphy, yeah you all know and love him, he the creator of that lovely law we all cherish so much, and had the audacity to have such a thing named after him, you know Murphy’s Law.
So I wake up 2 hrs after I go to sleep and decide not to go in until 9am since technically I didn’t have to be there until 2pm, but that would also require me to work until 9:30 pm, which just isn’t feasible. So 8:45 rolls around and I decide “Ah I’ll work 10 to whatever and make up the hrs on Sat”, this final plan set well with me and my body concurred, yet Mike decided to call to bullshit for whatever reason, and thus I couldn’t go back to sleep and decided to get up and get ready.
I double checked everything is ready for when I get home and decided to grab one of the Roland’s and take it to work as well as the camcorder so I can charge the batteries. Earlier, while putting together the Hip Hop session the speaker kept cutting in and out, and when I lifted it to pack it away I could hear something loose inside, so here I sit taking a barrage of calls while taking apart my speaker housing.
To my surprise I found the offensive source of the rattling and to my dismay it was a “Chicklet” or so I thought, basically attesting it to Jo Anne and Kids playing in my room when I stayed with Tom. So I figured everything was kewl, and started to put the housing back on, fortunately I was interrupted by a call. I say fortunately because during the process of the call I sat and fiddle with the weird green chicklet, until I was poked as if I had just pin pricked with a pen. A closer examination showed the little green thing to have some sort of print on it “100V 154J”. For a mere millisecond I contemplated that this was some sort of cruel Halloween twist for some little kid. Like the sudden rush of adrenaline one wakes up realizing they just over slept the alarm for an important meeting they HAD to at, I realized it was a transistor to the amp’s board inside the housing.
It’s barely noon, 1 thing down a zillion other to go, lets hope Mr. Murphy has decided to move on to someone else for the rest of the day.
Good news, is that even though I’m running on 2 ½ hrs sleep, I have at least a 40 min flawless Hip Hop set, and I found a kewl site with BPM listings so when I go home I can do a quick arrangement of the remaining Hip Hop wax to through together a more “on the fly set” either earlier or later in the evening, I haven’t quite decided yet.
Yeah, a loose transistor is “gone wrong” a la Murphy, but having it prick you, so you didn’t just pitch it for the chicklet you thought it was, that was GOOD luck. It evens out. Have a good ‘eve, and a better new year.
