Just got back from Circles and I am now $40 poorer, and 7 records deeper in the crate. When I talked to Derrick they said they didn’t have “Cry Me a River”, but the 1st thing I saw on the “Wall O’ Wax”, as I call it, was the new single. However I only discovered later as I skimmed through every column of wax on the record shelf that the release they have is entirely remixes. I’ll have to see when I get home if it’s a house mix or a club edit of the original with extended intros and breakdowns.

With only 20 minutes allotted to actually browse I grabbed everything of interest and then narrowed down to essentials before checking out. And the finalists are:

1) Nelly – Hot In Here (granted I now hate this song, it gets people dancing and I needed a double as the into is a bitch to mix in by itself)

2) Fabolous – This Is My Party (New jam, has a tight beat, I opted to get this earlier as a free promo but the record company shipped me Blue Cantrell – Breathe instead)

3) J-Lo – Jenny From the Block (As previously stated, need the instrumental, and now I have something to mix into if I want to get back onto the Mix Factor record without having to play and entirely different song between the two)

4) Justin Timberlake – Cry Me a River (Club mixes by Dirty Vegas, Johnny Fiasco, and Bill Hamel. This one doesn’t sound like it’ll be a extended mix, but hey you never know!)

5) 2x Missy Elliott – Work It (Gotta have the doubles nowadays)

6) D12 – Purple Pills (Yeah I know, not very clubby, but hey none of Eminem’s are, but people like to hear so I guess I have to play it)

Now that I’ve got all that done I can continue with the agenda as previously postponed due to illness.

I) Find “ Da Hiznitcha” Double CD set (was to be a demo tape but since I was a little drunk at the time I forgot to stop the recording and went for 3 hrs 45 min nonstop, and turned out to be the best mix tape/CD I’ve ever made)

Da Hiznitcha 2k1 — (circa 2001) by Djmgyx on Mixcloud

Make sure the power adapter and all RCA’s are packed for the mixers

Have it all packed before I go to work and make sure the power adapter and all RCA’s are packed for the mixers

Yeah so if you can’t tell I kinda forgot one of the cables at my last gig. So this time I’m going to make sure to have it all. Also I think it’s time to invest in bigger Bag O’, I haven’t quite decided to use one of my smaller duffle bags of if I should go grab another giant bag like the one I bought for $20 for my trip to Sacramento a few years ago. When I bought it I thought it was going to barely be bigger than a standard duffel bag, but once I started loading it, I found that the room just never ran out, and I have yet to be able to pack the entire thing. Having a lot of room is good, but at the same time can be a pain in my ass when I’m dealing with a compact setup location, either way I’ll figure it out when the time comes. So once I’m done with the checklist, all I have to do is pray nothing goes disastrously wrong like my 1st solo gig (I got in an car accident 2 ½ hrs before my gig), and everything should go smoothly!
