Sunday,
Hmm my day, well for the most part I spent it in a converted motel room with 63 other people, for defensive driving class. And the funny thing is that it really wasnât that bad until it got later in the day and I was literally fighting to keep my eyes open and squirming in my seat to find a position that had not already been numbed by these 1950âs school seat we were forced to sit in.
It was a fairly eventful day from the beginning, almost as soon as the instructor advised us that we could leave to go to the bathroom whenever needed, I lady said she had to leave, because she wasnât feeling well. I guess the instructor, didnât take her quiet seriously the 1st time she said it, because he started to go on with something else and she stopped him again and said she REALLY was not feeling well, and not like the âIâve got a headache or the I have a tummy ache, kind of not feeling wellâ. So He told her if she left, she would get credit for taking the class, and some other required things, and then asked if there was a phone in the room, unfortunately the Arizona Supreme court didnât find it necessary to have a phone available fin these classes for whatever reason, so someone called her husband for her, as she spoke very little English as I could tell at the time. With that out of the way I dismissed her completely until little Mexican man popped his head in the room, and that when someone next to her noticed she was pale as a ghost, and barley had her eyes open. 2 other student in the back helped her stand up and walk to the front, as she was finding it very difficult to stand up and walk, well she took 3 steps from the seat and started to pass out. As she was next to the aisle I was in, the student sitting next to me got up, and she flopped right down next to me, completely unconscious. Hereâs the kicker, being a Arizona Supreme court appointed instructor, the instructor obviously felt the a paramedic would be best advised, but her husband and her son completely declined any notion of it, and said everything would be fine. Now call me crazy but a few things here, 1) if you knew you werenât feeling well in the manner she was, why would you come to an 8 hr driving class as it was, and not simply wither pay the next or reschedule for when you were feeling better, 2) If you wife just passed out in front of you, for now real apparent reason, why would you not want an paramedic to come and assist.
Anyway after all that was done and they loaded her into their little Ford Focus and we all returned to class, a group of people behind me started stalking about it. And suddenly some said âI think she was faking it, so she could get out of staying in classâ. Can we say the idiot for the day has now made himself known? I can only say this to all future parents, please screen your child for mental disabilities before, they leave the house, and for the love of god donât let them have a drivers license. This kid was 16 and had his car less than 2 months and had already gotten a grip of tickets and citations. Out of nowhere for the rest of the day he would randomly asked idiotic questions, like whatâs a sting operation, or how come the police always search his car when he gets pulled over. Mind you this kid tries to dress like wannabe b-boy, and talks like he has been stuck on stupid since stupid had him. Within an hour any intelligent, witty comments were mainly direct act him, and of course he didnât get it. Needless to say he was quite amused that the instructor had a roll of duct tape in his car just like he did. Unfortunately has the instructor advised him, it was for people just like him, Mark didnât get understand the comment. And it reached an all time low when the subject of baseball bats was brought somehow, and the instructor stated he had one of those in his trunk as well, mark of course had a baseball in his trunk, and made the quick word association connection after about 10 minutes, and promptly chimed in so. To this final remark, I pleaded with the instructor to allow me to gather these items from his trunk and make ample use out of them in conjunction to Markâs body, in question of course being the small brain housed atop his shoulders. The instructor declined reluctantly declined, and there was an audible sigh of despair in the room, followed by the laughing, at the fact that everyone felt the same way about my intentions.
After class let out my day was fairly boring, Mike was at the crib, and we BBQâd for a bit, then Liz and Tom went to see the Bourne identity, which I must say was a great movie albeit the somewhat rocky transition towards the end of the movie. I on the other went to the Warehouse and picked up Black Hawk Down, which was another good movie, and stayed home. Mike, Kim and I went and saw the Bourne Identity the night before, as well.
Turns out Kim and her band boyfriend of the last few months called it quits, or at least she did, after it was resolved to say, he didnât have enough time for her, which I must say is kind of jacked because Kim is a really cool girl. I can actually say Kim is one of the only friends I have from when I first moved here that I still hangout with on occasion and still keep in touch with. Ironic, that everyone else Iâve met since then has all for the most part dropped from the face of the planet. And now that I think about it, Kim was literally the 1st person I become friends with when I 1st moved here.
Random thought before I forget: Who thought of the business plan and sales pitch to call an adult diaper âDignityâ, and then produce and market it as such in retails stores across the country?
Monday,
Okay just got home from work and I am pleased to announce I got the 2nd position of the 3 I applied for. So now I will be working in the Application and Admissions support dept, as well as the Faculty Tech Support department. The 3rd position is for a 2nd level technician, which I really hope I get, over all of them. Outside of that the day was fairly boring, though I did find an old email someone sent with this hilarious insanity test on it. Now this isnât like any other test, as the only thing you have to do is look at it. Check it out here.
